    非常に高い評価を得ているボブ・ディランのブートレッグ・シリーズの最新作、『トラブル・ノー・モア1979 - 1981』は、彼のキャリアの中で最もファンを驚かせ、物議を醸し、触発された時期に彼が作曲し、ライヴで演奏した音楽を紹介。1970年代が終わりを迎え、1980年代が始まると、ディランは新しい時代の幕開けに対し、『スロー・トレイン・カミング』(1979)、『セイヴド』(1980)、『ショット・オブ・ラヴ』(1981)の称賛、崇拝、信仰心についての魂を込めた気迫溢れる楽曲を収めた3部作で応じる。これらの楽曲はかつてないほど深く私的であり、詩学が詰め込まれていたが、演奏に表れている強い信念と信仰心は一部のファンを戸惑わせた(1965年にディランのエレキへの転身がフォーク純粋主義者たちを遠ざけてしまったように)。このディランの歴史においても極めて重要な時代のコンサートでは、彼のキャリアの中で最も歓喜に満ち、ずば抜けた演奏が聴ける。この時期、ツアーでバックを務めた演奏陣は、ジム・ケルトナー(dr)、ティム・ドラモンド(b)、フレッド・タケット(g)、スプーナー・オールダム(key)、テリー・ヤング(key)らの腕利きミュージシャン。ディランの歌を表情豊かに彩っている。ボブ・ディラン『トラブル・ノー・モア(ブートレッグ・シリーズ第13集)1979 - 1981』はディランのファン、そして音楽愛好家たちにとって、ディランの音楽的旅路におけるこの類い稀な時期を初めて存分に味わえる絶好の機会なのだ。

    1991年にリリースされた『ブートレッグ・シリーズ第1〜3集』に収録された「イェ・シャル・ビー・チェンジド」を除けば、『トラブル・ノー・モア(ブートレッグ・シリーズ第13集)1979 - 1981』デラックス版の曲は全て未発表音源である。14曲の未発表曲を含む、多くの未発表ライヴ音源、貴重なスタジオ・アウトテイクが収められている。デラックス版のボックス・セットにはディラン学者のベン・ロリンズによる紹介文及びアマンダ・ペトルーシク、ロブ・ボウマンそしてペン・ジレットによるライナー・ノーツを収めたハードカバーのブックレットが付く。それに、ディランの1980年ツアーからの未公開映像と、作家リュック・サンテが書き下ろし、アカデミー賞ノミネート歴のあるマイケル・シャノンが読み上げる説教を含む新作長編映画『Trouble No More: A Musical Film』のDVDが付属される。ジェニファー・ルボーが監督した『Trouble No More』は名誉ある2017年ニューヨーク映画祭で初上映される。尚、DVDの特典映像には、1981年アヴィニヨン公演の「ショット・オブ・ラヴ」の貴重なパフォーマンスが含まれる。

    ジャズ、ソウル、ミュージカルなど、幅広いジャンルを又にかけ、米ミュージック・シーンにおけるレガシーの一人として人気を集めるディー・ディー・ブリッジウォーター。Okehレーベルから第2弾、前作『Dee Dee's Feathers』（2015年）から2年ぶりにリリースされる今作は、彼女の故郷であり、アメリカの音楽／カルチャー、公民権運動の中心地として重要な役割を果たす街、メンフィスへのオマージュ。幼少期を過ごしたメンフィスでは、父親は“マット・ザ・プラッター・キャット”の名前で地元の老舗ラジオ局WDAIでDJとしてレコードをかけていた。その後ミシガン州フリントに引っ越すことになってもWDAIを聴きながら一家で夜を過ごし、そこで流れていたR&Bやブルースは、彼女のシンガーとしての人生を決定づけることになった。

    共同プロデュースとして、長年の友人であるカーク・ウェイラムが参加。ザ・ステイプル・シンガーズ「Why (Am I Treated So Bad)」、マディ・ウォーターズやエリック・クラプトンでおなじみ「GoingDown Slow」、B.B.キングも歌った「Thrill is Gone」、カーラ・トーマス「B.A.B.Y.」など、往年の名曲を、ディー・ディー・ブリッジウォーターの新しい解釈で披露している。自身のルーツに対する矜持を込めて、艶やかで自在な歌声が、いっそう冴えわたる。

    バンド結成40周年という記念すべき年を迎えた昨年、彼らはRic Ocasek監修による最新リマスター音源を収録したボックス・セットとベスト・アルバムを発表したのだが、このリマスタリング作業を経て、彼らのオリジナル・アルバムがレア楽曲や未発表音源を追加したエクスパンデッド・エディションとなって今回生まれ変わる事となった！

    この『CANDY-O』は、1978年に新たなシーンを定義づけることとなり、シーンに衝撃を与えたデビュー作『THE CARS』に続く作品として翌1979年に発表したセカンド・アルバムだ。前作同様Roy Thomas Baker（Queenなどを手掛ける）をプロデューサーに迎え制作された今作は、全米アルバム・チャート3位を記録、USでは4xプラチナム・ディスクを獲得する、大ヒット作品となった。バンドにとって初の全米シングル・チャートTOP15入りを果たしたシングル「Let's Go」や、「It's All I Can Do」といったヒット曲を収録。

    このエクスパンデッド・エディションは、オリジナル・アルバムに収録されている11曲に加え、「Let's Go」や「Lust For Kicks」の未発表ヴァージョンとなる別ミックス音源や、今まで未発表となっていた楽曲「They Won't See You (The Northern Studios Version)」などを含む7曲のボーナス・トラックを追加収録。また、David Wildによるライナーノーツには、ギタリストElliot Eastonの最新インタビューも収録されている。
